About the Subprojects

The ICE LAW Project incorporates five subprojects.

  • Territory: investigates understandings of territory that have been implemented in dynamic spaces including, but not limited to, polar regions
  • Resources: examines how polar environments influence the regulation and economization of commercial and subsistence resources
  • Migrations & Mobilities: explores the intersecting (im)mobilities of ice, vessels, and people in the polar environment
  • Law: explores legal precedents for regulating polar environments, in Western and non-Western contexts
  • Indigenous & Local Perspectives: documents perspectives informed by understandings of land, water, and ice, and explores responses to changed geophysical and political environments
